Additional Information From NC State University:

The undergraduate major in English is built around an 18-hour core that includes one course from each of the following six categories: American Literature, British Literature, World Literature, Film, Linguistics, and Rhetoric. In addition to the 18-hour core, students take 21 hours of course work in their concentration.

The Linguistics concentration (LIN) complements the skills learned in the English core classes by exposing students to scientific approaches to the study of language, communication, and culture. Students will take at least 18-hours in linguistics classes that will introduce them to quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques and help develop problem solving and critical thinking skills that are sought after in today's marketplace. Students who complete this concentration may find employment in diverse fields such as market research, advertising, publishing, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, speech and language pathology, and more. Graduates may also be competitive for graduate programs in linguistics, communication, speech and language pathology, or law school.

Please visit the departmental website for additional information.

Remaining Courses to be Taken at NC State are based on CAA eligibility and completion of all required and suggested courses in this transfer guide. Remaining courses, hours and time to degree may vary for each student.
