Additional Information From NC State University:

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Philosophy, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Philosophy, plus three concentrations. These different programs all cover basic core areas of philosophy that are essential to any good philosophy major, but they also allow students to pursue and showcase different areas of emphasis.

The NC State Department of Philosophy recommends the B.A. in philosophy to:

  • students with strong interests in a foreign language, history or literature;
  • students who would like to combine a major in philosophy with another major in the humanities or social sciences.

The B.A. in Philosophy offers a comprehensive degree with an option for 1 of 2 concentrations, all requiring in-depth major coursework and advanced electives. This transfer guide is designed to provide a foundation for all B.A. in Philosophy options by fulfilling College, prequisite and foundational requirements prior to transfer. For more information please visit the departmental website.

The B.A. in Philosophy with a Concentration in Ethics provides excellent preparation for top graduate programs in Philosophy as well as for professional training in fields as diverse as law, library science, management and medicine. Although the major does not train students for a particular career, it develops skills that are useful for work in any field that requires critical, constructive and independent thinking. Please view a detailed curricula plan prior to beginning this transfer guide.

Remaining Courses to be Taken at NC State are based on CAA eligibility and completion of all required and suggested courses in this transfer guide. Remaining courses, hours and time to degree may vary for each student.
