Program Admission Notes:

NC State Undergraduate Admissions employs a holistic approach in reviewing transfer students’ applications and considers a range of accomplishments and qualifications. Recommended courses and GPA are major critical path courses or departmental recommendations and are not minimum requirements for transfer admissions.

  • 2.5 or higher GPA (3.0 or higher preferred)
  • English Composition I & II equal to NC State’s ENG 101 (ENG 111 + 112= ENG 101 and ENG 1**)
  • College-level Precalculus
  • Biology with Lab or Chemistry with Lab (both are recommended)

Please note this transfer guide recommends the associate in arts (AA) degree to accommodate the major's unique science requirements and promote efficient credit transfer. Students should expect to follow suggested coursework for additional math and science requirements beyond those required for an AA.

Additional Information From NC State University:

The Agricultural Education Program has 2 main components:

  • A broad understanding of agriculture. Students complete introductory courses in animal or poultry science, plant science, soil science, agricultural economics, agricultural engineering, and forestry to develop the necessary agricultural background to provide information to a variety of clients.
  • A concentration in one area of agriculture: agribusiness management, agricultural engineering technology, agronomy, animal science, horticultural science, natural resources, or poultry science. Each curriculum culminates in a semester-length practicum experience in which students apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world setting.

Teacher Licensure Completion of the B.S. program in Agricultural Education leads to teacher licensure in North Carolina for grades 6-12. Because of North Carolina’s reciprocity agreements, graduates also can pursue certification in about 35+ states.
