Program Admission Notes:
NC State Undergraduate Admissions employs a holistic approach in reviewing transfer students’ applications andconsiders a range of accomplishments and qualifications. Recommended courses and GPA recommendations, are departmental recommendations and are not minimum requirements for transfer admissions.

College of Design Admissions Requirements

Fall entry only, requires an online portfolio and creative essay with the deadline of November 1st.

Completion of a 10-piece portfolio and creative essay (250 - 300 words).
Portfolio should contain the following:

Visual Communication Skills: Work should express specific ideas, attitudes, events, or stories.

Serial or Sequential Work: Series of themed works; various iterations of the same idea; same subject executed in different mediums.

Problem Solving Skills: Evidence of problem solving for larger or smaller issues
The Bachelor’s of Graphic and Experience Design requires 8 semesters of studio AFTER transfer which typically takes 4 years of enrollment at NCState, regardless of the number of transfer credits or completion of an associate’s degree. The College of Design strongly recommends that you consult the program transfer applicant guidelines after reviewing this document.
