Program Admission Notes:

Transfer students typically have a cumulative college GPA of 2.5 or higher. To be considered, you must be eligible to return to the last school you attended.

  • UNC Asheville Transfer Common Application or CFNC Application
  • $75 application fee or a fee waiver
  • Official high school transcript if you have fewer than 24 completed college credits at the time of application AND are 20 years and younger. If you were homeschooled, submit a Home School Eligibility Certification. If you are under 21, ensure you satisfy the UNC-System high school course requirements.
  • Official college transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you’ve attended.

Early College Students should complete the First-Year Student application.

College Level Foreign Language Requirements:

All students are required to complete a college-level foreign language through the second semester, or to place out of the second semester. These courses can be taken at the community college.

Additional Information From UNC Asheville:

HUM 124: Global Humanities: Ancient Worlds and HUM 214: Global Humanities: Premodern Worlds (300-1700) at UNC Asheville will automatically be fulfilled by the Associate Degree and UGETC. However, taking HIS 111 and HIS 112 at the community college will provide foundational knowledge to proceed with the upper-level Humanities classes.

Students will be required to complete 60 hours from 4-year institutions. Students must complete 30 hours of 300-400 level courses as part of the required 120 hours..

One-half of required MATH hours must be completed at UNC Asheville. 

  • MATH 191, 192, 280, 291, 365, 381, 480
  • STAT 185 or 225; 325, 326, 425, 426
  • 3-hour Mathematics or Statistics course numbered above 300. Students intending to pursue graduate study are strongly advised to take MATH 491.
  • CSCI 182, 183 (recommended), or 185
  • One of the following groups of courses:
    • ACCT 215 and ECON 306
    • BUS 130 and 380
    • ECON 103 and 305
    • 6 hours at the 300-400 level approved by the department chair from disciplines which routinely employ statistical methodology. Students interested in actuarial science are strongly encouraged to take ACCT 215, ECON 103, 305, and 306.

The plan is based on the student beginning their Math studies with Calculus I.  If MAT 171 and 172 are required, additional time and hours to degree may be needed. MATH 191, 192,  291, CSCI 183, STAT 185, and courses required for the correlate group of courses can be completed at the NCCC. Third Level Humanities Course 4

Diversity Intensive Courses 6-8

Take two Diversity Intensive courses--one must be DI-R designated. These courses can be found throughout the curriculum, including courses used for the major. LA 378 fulfills both the DI-R and the Third Level Humanities requirements.
