Transfer Guide for Associate in Arts

2024-2025

Concentration(s): Policy & Administration
Delivery Method: On-Campus

Program Admission Notes:

NC State Undergraduate Admissions employs a holistic approach in reviewing transfer students’ applications and considers a range of accomplishments and qualifications. Recommended courses and GPA are major critical path courses or departmental recommendations and are not minimum requirements for transfer admissions.

  • 2.5 and above GPA
  • English Composition I & II equal to NC State’s ENG 101 (ENG 111 + 112= ENG 101 and ENG 1**)
  • College-level Precalculus or higher Math
  • College-level Biology, Chemsitry or Physics w/lab

An Associate in Arts (AA) degree maximizes transfer coursework for this major but additional math and science courses beyond the AA minimums are required to be competitive candidates for this program and to ensure efficient time to degree. Students considering graduate school in the sciences may choose to take MAT 271 instead of MAT 263. Consult an advisor and plan appropriately.

Additional Information From NC State University:

The curriculum in Natural Resources Policy and Administration produces graduates who have knowledge and skills to manage natural resources programs in a variety of settings and organizations with an emphasis on public agencies. The advanced courses of the curriculum provide background in economics, policy, government, public administration, and natural resources management. An economics track begins with introductory microeconomics and culminates with environmental economics and public finance. Courses in government and public administration provide knowledge of how public institutions work. Courses in forestry, wildlife and fisheries, and outdoor recreation provide techniques of managing natural ecosystems for various uses. A common thread of how public policy on natural resources is influenced and developed runs through many of the courses already noted and culminates in two senior courses that focus on policy.

This major requires a summer internship program and may take more than 4 semesters at NC State to complete. For more information, please see the program website

Remaining Courses to be Taken at NC State are based on CAA eligibility and completion of all required and suggested courses in this transfer guide. Remaining courses, hours and time to degree may vary for each student.
