Additional Information From Appalachian State University:

  • A 24 semester hour Applied or Public History concentration is required for this major. Students can complete 12 hours of the concentration at the community college.
  • Students can take SOC 210 or POL 120 to satisfy 3 hours of 1000-level requirement for Applied or Public History Concentration.
  • Students should take 6 hours of the following coursework to satisfy 6 hours of 2000-level requirements for Applied or Public History Concentration: COM 231 and ECO 251 and/or 252.
  • Students will still have 15 hours of 3000-level Applied or Public History concentration coursework to complete upon transferring to Appalachian.

A total of 18 hours (6 courses) is required. At least 3 hours of 2000-level HIS is required before taking a 3000-level HIS course. At least 3 hours of 3000-level HIS is required before taking a 4000-level HIS course. No more than 15 hours from the 2000 level may be used to meet this requirement (including 2800).
