Program Admission Notes:

Transfer students typically have a cumulative college GPA of 2.5 or higher. To be considered, you must be eligible to return to the last school you attended.

  • UNC Asheville Transfer Common Application or CFNC Application
  • $75 application fee or a fee waiver
  • Official high school transcript if you have fewer than 24 completed college credits at the time of application AND are 20 years and younger. If you were homeschooled, submit a Home School Eligibility Certification. If you are under 21, ensure you satisfy the UNC-System high school course requirements.
  • Official college transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you’ve attended.

Early College Students should complete the First-Year Student application.

College Level Foreign Language Requirements:

All students are required to complete a college-level foreign language through the second semester, or to place out of the second semester. These courses can be taken at the community college.

Additional Information From UNC Asheville:

HUM 124: Global Humanities: Ancient Worlds and HUM 214: Global Humanities: Premodern Worlds (300-1700) at UNC Asheville will automatically be fulfilled by the Associate Degree and UGETC. However, taking HIS 111 and HIS 112 at the community college will provide foundational knowledge to proceed with the upper-level Humanities classes.

Students will be required to complete 60 hours from 4-year institutions. Students must complete 30 hours of 300-400 level courses as part of the required 120 hours.

One-half of required ENVS hours must be completed at UNC Asheville.

  • ENVS 130, 241, 332, 334, 480, either 490 or 499
  • 6 hours chosen from ENVS 234, 324, 333, 360, 365, 383, 391
  • 7 hours at the 300-400 level, with at least 4 hours chosen from ENVS 302, both 322 and 323, 338, 341, 343, 346, 347, 348, 349, 351, 352, 358, 366, 384, 385, 390, 396, 397
  • 6 hours of environmental policy and management-relevant coursework, with at least 3 hours at the 300-400 level. The courses approved for this requirement are listed on the department’s website. They may not be double-counted to meet other requirements for the Environmental Management and Policy concentration.
  • CHEM 111, 132, 145 and either 231, 233, or 236
  • ECON 103, 339
  • MATH 167 and STAT 185. Students can take MATH 191 in lieu of MATH 167 and STAT 185.

ENVS 130, the Chemistry classes, MATH 167 and STAT 185 (or MATH 191), and environmental policy-related courses can be completed at the NCCC. ECON 103 can be completed by taking both ECO 251 and 252. Third Level Humanities Course 4

Diversity Intensive Courses 6-8

Take two Diversity Intensive courses--one must be DI-R designated. These courses can be found throughout the curriculum, including courses used for the major. LA 378 fulfills both the DI-R and the Third Level Humanities requirements.
