College Level Foreign Language Requirements:

Students are required to demonstrate intermediate-level proficiency in a language other than English. Intermediate-level proficiency is demonstrated by successful completion of a 4th-semester language course.

*If your community college does not offer intermediate level foreign language courses, you will need to transfer to App State in the summer to complete the intermediate coursework.

Additional Information From Appalachian State University:

A minor is required for this degree.

Students should plan to apply for the summer term at Appalachian to complete intermediate foreign languages courses prior to first fall semester. If their community college offers intermediate foreign language they can complete these courses there instead as Pre-Major/Elective classes. If they use them to meet their Associate degree, students may need to complete an additional six elective credits at App State to reach the 120 hours required to graduate.
