Admissions Requirements

  • Transfer applicants must have a cumulative average of a "C" (2.0) GPA or higher.
  • Transfer applicants must have earned 24 or more transferable credit hours.
  • Transfer applicants must not presently be on probation, suspended or expelled from their last or current school of attendance.
  • Some academic programs at NCCU may have admission requirements that exceed those listed above.

Additional Notes:

  1. Math labs are accepted but are not required. If completed, they will count towards electives.
  2. Courses COM 110 and COM 231 are the preferred courses for communications at North Carolina Central University.
  3. Additional course requirements: HEA 110 and PED 110 to satisfy the University's Health and Wellness requirement.

College Level Foreign Language Requirements:

  1. Transfer students who have earned an AA, AS, or AAS from any accredited US college may instead satisfy the language requirement by completing a "culture" course (Fren 1000, 1020, 3130; Germ 2010, 2104 or Span 1000, 1020, 2010, 2020, 2150.
  2. If transferring prior to completion of the AA, AS, or AAS 2 semesters of foreign language at the college level is required.
  3. Foreign Language labs are accepted but are not required. If completed they will count towards electives.

Additional Information From North Carolina Central University:

The recommendations on this transfer guide exceed the requirements of the AA degree; however students wanting to upper-division of Nursing must have prerequisites and general education complete. Students, once evaluated/admitted to NCCU,  will be evaluated to ensure the pre-requisites completed at the NCCC are added within the 64-credit transferrable hours.

  • A cumulative 3.2 is required for admission to nursing.
  • Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 in math/science courses.
  • All general education requirements must be complete prior to admission to the nursing program.
  • The TEAS exam for Nursing is required for admittance into the Nursing program.
  • Nursing courses completed at other institutions are not accepted as transfer credits.
  • Students who were not successful in other nursing programs are not eligible for admission to nursing at NCCU.
