Program Admission Notes:
Students completing a Associate in Applied Science in Health Information Technology at some area community colleges may be eligible for the online degree completion program for HIM. For more information, visit https://online.ecu.edu.
To be admitted to HIM, students must:

Complete at least 33 hours of foundations curriculum courses and prerequisite courses prior to entering the program, including the following courses with a "C" or higher.

BIOL 2130, 2131 (BIO 163)

BIOS 1500
-
There is no direct equivalent at the community college.

May take MAT 152 as a substitute.

HIMA 3000
-
AA and AS students will not be able to take this course as part of their program.

However, the equivalent for this course would be MED 121 & MED 122.

HSMA 2000

AA and AS students will not be able to take this course as part of their program.

However, the equivalent for this course is HIT 110.
