Transfer Guide for Associate in Arts

Program Admission Notes:

WSSU requires transfer students to have at least 24 hours and a minimum 2.0 GPA. These requirements apply to transfer students earning the AA/AS degree at a NCCC.

Students transferring prior to earning 24 hours can review additional admissions criteria here.

Social Work Specific Admissions Requirement:

  • Complete the Social Work Program application while enrolled in SOW 3363 - Introduction to Social Work. 
  • Successfully complete a minimum of 36 credit hours in general education requirements;
  • Successfully complete SOW 3363 - Introduction to Social Work, with a grade of “C” or higher, and have an overall GPA of 2.0;
  • Submit a current copy of the official transcript;
  • Sign a statement indicating that they read and agreed to the follow the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW);
  • Secure required letters of reference; and complete required volunteer hours.

The gateway or required course for this acceptance into the social work program is the Introduction to Social Work (SOW 3363) course. 

This course is offered each fall, spring and summer I and is an asynchronous course. Students must take the course and get a "C" or better before advancing to the upper level courses.
