University Studies requires a student to obtain proficiency through the 201-level (equivalent to foreign language 211 at NCCCs) in a language previously studied or the 102-level (equivalent to foreign language 112 at NCCCs) in a second foreign language not previously studied. Students will demonstrate proficiency by completing a course at the 201 level or higher in a language previously studied or at the 102-level in a second foreign language. If you graduated high school 7 or more years before you enrolled at UNCW, an exception applies to you. Then you only need to complete a language course at the 102 level (or higher)
Students are encouraged to build the North Carolina Community College (NCCC) course recommendations below into the associate degree to best prepare for the intended university and major.

Natural Science Note: The major will also accept BIO 168 or BIO 155 in lieu of BIO 110, BIO 111, or BIO 112; however these options will not fulfill the UGETC Natural Science requirement within the associate degree.
A grade of “C” or better is required in PSY 105. No more than one course with a grade of “D” can count toward the requirements for a major in psychology (including the biology and mathematics course requirements). There also must be a “C” (2.00) or better average on all courses counted towards the major. Additional requirements include completion of a biology course selected from BIO 105, BIO 140 (with laboratory), BIO 201, BIO 202, or BIO 240 (with laboratory) and a mathematics course selected from MAT 101 or higher (excluding MAT 141 and 142), STT 210, or STT 215. Note: When selecting math or science students should consider post-graduate plans as many graduate programs have pre-requisite requirements that may include advanced math or science.
120 total credit hours is needed to receive the degree from UNCW. Students may need to take additional remaining courses, not found on this list to complete their degree.
