The mission of the Interdisciplinary Studies program is for students to develop coherent and rigorous academic programs that address broad or complex questions by integrating multiple intellectual traditions, epistemologies, and disciplinary approaches.

Student must develop rationale for focus area disciplines and courses. Students may choose disciplines from the list of pre-approved grouping determined by the Interdisciplinary Studies advisory committee or, if the desired grouping is not pre-approved, request approval from that committee.

  • Student must develop rationale for focus area disciplines and courses. Students may choose disciplines from the list of pre-approved grouping determined by the Interdisciplinary Studies advisory committee or, if the desired grouping is not pre-approved, request approval from that committee.
  • At least 12 credit hours must be completed in a single “core” discipline approved in advance by the student’s academic advisor.
  • Students must complete coursework in at least three different disciplines.
  • Up to 18 credit hours can be used from the following disciplines:ACCT, BFIN, BMIS, BUAD, MRKT, MNGT.
  • Note that not all disciplines and courses are offered online. Some courses are subject to major entry and pre-professional requirements and may not be available to Interdisciplinary Studies students. Prerequisites may limit or restrict the ability of Distance Learning students to enroll in certain courses.
