Due to class sequencing for this major, students need to begin coursework at App State in the summer. This major requires specific App State classes which are not offered at the community college. For this major, it is recommended that students transfer after 30 UGETC hours.

Additional Information From Appalachian State University:

  • Students transferring into the Interior Design major should apply for the first summer session and plan to take two classes each session.
  • A portfolio is not required for admission to the program; rather the student is required to complete the portfolio review at the end of the accelerated summer session foundation. Students who complete the accelerated summer session, and pass the portfolio review, can expect 3 years to complete the degree.
  • Students who transfer in the fall, can expect 4 years to complete the degree.
  • Completing the AA degree will result in students taking courses that will not benefit them in the major and extend time to graduation.
  • To be considered for transfer credit for any INT course a portfolio of all work must be submitted and received prior to Reading Day of the FAll or Spring semester prior to entering Appalachian State University.
  • Minimum grade C/2.0 required in each major course
