NC State Undergraduate Admissions employs a holistic approach in reviewing transfer students’ applications and considers a range of accomplishments and qualifications. Recommended courses and GPA are major critical path courses or departmental recommendations and are not minimum requirements for transfer admissions.

  • 2.5 and above GPA
  • English Composition I & II equal to NC State’s ENG 101 (ENG 111 + 112= ENG 101 and ENG 1**)
  • College-level math (Precalculus or higher)
  • College-level Biology, Chemistry or Physics

Students considering graduate school in a STEM program may take MAT 271 instead of MAT 263, Please consult your academic advisor and plan appropriately.

Additional Information From NC State University:

The forest management, ecology concentration, trains professionals who will work as researchers, resource managers, and practitioners in varied agencies and non-governmental firms or organizations. Not focused on commodity production, this program provides more depth in scientific examination of forest communities. Subjects upon which forest management depends include botany, chemistry, ecology, economics, entomology, forest measurements, hydrology, mapping, mathematics, plant physiology, soil science, and statistics.

This major requires a summer practicum or equivalent learning experience. Please contact the NC State College of Natural Resources or consult the Department of Forestry Management website more information. 

Remaining Courses to be Taken at NC State are based on CAA eligibility and completion of all required and suggested courses in this transfer guide. Remaining courses, hours and time to degree may vary for each student. Major may require additional semesters at NC State beyond senior year.

Summer Practicum 9

FOR 204, 261, 264, 265 and 273 (9 total hours). The purpose of the practicum is to study forest measurement and management skills in the field during concentrated hands-on experiences. Seven weeks of this residential practicum occur at George Watts Hill Forest, north of Durham, North Carolina.
