Program Admission Notes:

Transfer students typically have a cumulative college GPA of 2.5 or higher. To be considered, you must be eligible to return to the last school you attended.

  • UNC Asheville Transfer Common Application or CFNC Application
  • $75 application fee or a fee waiver
  • Official high school transcript if you have fewer than 24 completed college credits at the time of application AND are 20 years and younger. If you were homeschooled, submit a Home School Eligibility Certification. If you are under 21, ensure you satisfy the UNC-System high school course requirements.
  • Official college transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you’ve attended.

Early College Students should complete the First-Year Student application.

College Level Foreign Language Requirements:

All students are required to complete a college-level foreign language fulfilled by any level of a second language or placement exam. These courses can be taken at the community college.

Additional Information From UNC Asheville:

Students will be required to complete 60 hours from 4-year institutions. Students must complete 30 hours of 300-400 level courses as part of the required 120 hours.

One-half of required MATH hours must be completed at UNC Asheville. 

  • MATH 191, 192, 280, 291, 365, 381, 394, 461, 480, 491
  • 9–10 hours chosen from STAT 225 and Mathematics or Statistics at the 300-400 level. These latter hours must include either: one from MATH 366, 462, 492; or the sequence STAT 425-426.
  • CSCI 182, 183 (recommended), or 185
  • One of the following groups of courses:
    • CHEM 111, 132, 145 and 236
    • ECON 103 and four additional credits in ECON at the 200-level or higher
    • PHYS 221 and 222
    • 6 credit hours of courses at the 300-level or above, approved by the department chair, from disciplines in which mathematics plays a significant role.

The plan is based on the student beginning their Math studies with Calculus I.  If MAT 171 and 172 are required, additional time and hours to degree may be needed. MATH 191, 192,  291, CSCI 183, and the correlate sequence group of courses can be completed at the NCCC.
